Vessel General Permit
Vessel discharge meeting the compliance standards
The process of meeting the compliance discharge standards related to international and local regulations can be complex and overwhelming. We have unmatched experience in testing within the context of the Vessel General Permit (VGP) regulation from the United States Environmental Protection Agency (US-EPA).
The VGP aims to protect the United States coastline and inland waters by regulating vessel discharges. It authorises discharges incidental to the normal operation of vessels with a length greater than or equal to 79 feet into United States waters. US-EPA requires vessel owners or operators to engage service providers and laboratories who can collect samples and perform analyses to determine whether vessels constructed on or after 19 December 2013 meet the standards for discharged ballast water in VGP 2013.
VGP 2013
How does it work?
We offer a range of sampling and laboratory services to support the shipping industry and the Port State Control (PSC) authorities and ensure compliance with VGP requirements.
We perform analytical services according to US-EPA’s VGP 2013 requirements. Besides ballast water, our testing services also include greywater, exhaust gas scrubber wash water, bilge water and potable water parameters.
Key Features
We offer VGP services for different types of ballast water management systems, e.g., UV, chlorination and ozone systems.
We provide customised VGP dossiers to suit your needs including documentation for vessel compliance with US-EPA, U.S. Coast Guard, IMO and flag state requirements. This includes reporting with conclusion on compliance or non-compliance with US-EPA VGP standards and details of all tests parameters, methods and results.
